14. Wearing a mask (口罩) while seeping at home sounds a litter crazy. But Wu Keying did so during COVID-19 outbreak. "I feared that I would be infected (感染). Now I know it's not necessary to do so, But I am still worried about when the pandemic will end," said the 13-year-old girl from Chengdu.
In fact, many people have experienced feelings like Wu. Nearly 80 percent of people are deeply worried about the outbreak, while 40 percent strongly fear it, according to a survey released on Jan 27 by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
These emotions (情绪) are normal for people who are going through stressful events, according to Wang Weihua, an expert (专家) on positive psychology (积极心理学). "Some stressful reactions (反应) can help us fight the virus (病毒)," Wang said. "We take more protective actions, such as wearing masks and washing hands often, for example."
But if these feelings last too long, it will be bad for our health, Wang added. So how can we stay positive?
First, we should learn to accept unexpected changes in life. We might learn new lessons from these changes, like respecting nature and being more responsible (有担当的).
Another useful way to stay positive is to stick to a normal routine (坚持正常作息).
"The key is to take good care of the body, eat healthy food, sleep enough and get the necessary rest" Zhang Hong, another expert, told China Daily.
15. Do stars only appear at night? The answer is no. Venus is the one and only star that can be seen in daytime. Venus is the second planet form the sun. It is the second brightest nature object, behind Earth's moon, in the night sky. Why is it so bright?
First of all, Venus is the closest planet to Earth. It is also covered by highly reflective (反射的) clouds, which can reflect about 70% of the sunlight, almost twice as much as Earth does.
Some are calling 2017 the year of Venus, because the planet is at its brightest twice this year. Venus gets brighter when it goes further away from the sun, and nearer to the Earth. The brightest moment occurred once on the night of February 17, and again during daylight, on April 30.
If Venus is so bright and close to us, isn't it a better choice for human exploration (探索) than Mars? It is closer to Earth than Mars and it's closer to Earth in size. The closer distance to the sun means solar power (太阳能) would be easier to produce as well.
However, with a temperature of about 465°C on the surface, Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system!
But scientists never give up. Recently, a team of NASA and Russian scientists created new computer equipment that can stand temperatures of 480°C. It can work under Venus﹣like conditions for almost 22 days.
The next step, according to the scientists, is to send a probe (探测器) to Venus by 2025.
16. Square dancing is becoming more popular in China. It is so popular among old people. It is a way to exercise and it can also help people to relax.
My grandmother also like square dancing. She usually goes dancing after dinner and she is happy while she is dancing. So she is happy while she is dancing. So she is healthier than before and she makes many friends. So square dancing not only help people to exercise, but also makes people forget any trouble and become hopeful. It can even change people's personalities.
However, every coin has two sides. Square dancing has also caused some problems. For example, when people dance, they play the speaker so loud that the people in the neighborhood often complain (抱怨)about the noise. The music is too noisy for people to fall asleep and the students can't focus on their homework, either. Sometimes, they may quarrel (吵架) or even fight for a dancing place. What's more, dancing in smog (烟雾) is bad for people's health.
I think people can go dancing because it really can make people healthy, but they should not affect other people's rest and work. They can dance in a big square and the music should not be too loud. If people can follow these rules, I think everyone will support square dancing and it will be more and more popular in the future.
Dancing can be great if you follow the rules. Do you agree with me?
