Until now, about 120 (2)       words have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary, becoming a part of the English language.
Why have these words become (3)      ? It may be because of increased interest in learning Chinese. The Confucius Institute (孔子学院), which offers Chinese lessons, has set up 1,073 (4)       in 140 countries and areas, with 2.1 million students. — People's Daily reported.
The CFLPA (中国外文局) studied 50 media platforms (媒体平台) in eight English-speaking (5)      , including the US, the UK and India. The report listed the top 100 Chinese (6)       that people in these countries use the most.

Some of the hot words, which are increasingly popular with the foreign media, represent the social and cultural change. For example, (9)       Tuhao and Dama are old words, they have got new (10)      . Tuhao used to represent the village landlords (地主) (11)       owned a lot of land and had many servants in the old days, but now it is used to refer to the (12)       who spend money like water or like to show off. That is to say, they have wealth but no taste. Dama (aunt) is a calling to middle-aged (13)      , but now it especially refers to the Chinese women who buy a lot of gold when gold price (14)       recently.

If you sit in a chair for too long or in a bad position (姿势), your back may begin to hurt. Now there is a new chair that can help you avoid that. It was developed by German scientists. It makes noises to tell users when they need to move.
13. On a Friday night, a poor young artist stood at the gate of the subway station, playing his violin. Though the music was great, people were quickly going home for the weekend. In this case, many of them put some money into the hat of the young man.
The next day, the young artist came to the gate of the subway station, and put his hat on the ground gracefully. Different from the day before, he took out a large piece of paper and laid it on the ground and put some stones on it. Then he began playing. It seemed more pleasant to listen to.
Before long, the young violinist was surrounded with people. All people were all attracted by the words on that paper. It said, "Last night, a gentleman named George Sang put an important thing into my hat by mistake. Please come to get it soon."
After about half an hour, a middle-aged man ran there in a hurry and rushed through the crowd to the violinist and grabbed his shoulders and said, "Yes, it's you. You did come here. I knew that you're an honest man and would certainly come here."
The young violinist asked calmly, "Are you Mr. George Sang?" The man nodded. The violinist asked, "Did you lose something?" "Lottery (奖票). It's lottery," said the man.
The violinist took out a lottery ticket on which George Sang's name was seen. "Is it?" he asked.
Later someone asked the violinist, "At that time you were in need to pay the tuition fee (学费) and you had to play the violin in the subway station every day to make the money. Then why didn't you take the lottery ticket for yourself?"
The violinist said, "Although I don't have much money, I live happily; but if I lose honesty I won't be happy forever."
Through our lives, we can get a lot and lose so much. But being honest should always be with us.
14. Someday in the future we may not need to have money in our pockets. Is life easier when people don't need to carry any currency at all? Is money heavy to carry? Is it safe to carry money? Maybe in the future each of us will have only one small plastic credit card (信用卡). We will use it to buy all the things we now buy with money. We will not need money to pay for things.
Of course we may still have some of the same problems with cards we now have with money. Sometimes we lose money. Maybe we will lose the cards. Maybe someone will take the card. Someone may even make a card that looks like our card. Since we can't buy anything without our cards, the credit card may be no better than currency.
Is there something easier to use than credit card? Each of us has a thumbprint (拇指纹). No two thumbprints are the same. Maybe someday the government will keep people's thumbprints with a number. When you want to buy something you will put your thumb on a machine or a computer. Each store or business will have one. Everyone's thumbprint will be in the computers. It will be very difficult to lose our thumbprints! It will be difficult for someone to steal it or to make one like it.
