Winnipeg is a place in Canada. Many years ago, Harry, a soldier, went to Europe from here. When he stopped at a train station, he saw a man selling a little black bear. Harry bought it and named it Winnipeg. The name became Winnie in short later.
Harry went to a lot of places. When he got to London, he left Winnie in the London Zoo. He thought they could look after Winnie.
Near the zoo, there was a boy named Robin. He loved to visit the London Zoo with his dad. Winnie was his favourite animal. Robin's father was a writer. He wrote the bear in one of his poems for the first time. Later he wrote stories about Winnie and Robin. Slowly, the father wrote more characters (角色) like Piglet, Rabbit, Roo and Tigger and so on in his stories.

People are introduced from the oldest to the youngest. When we present (递给) a book to an older person, two hands are used. Young people always offer (提供) their seats to older people on a crowded subway or bus.
In western countries, however, older people seldom think they are old. They are called "seniors" instead of "old people". They'd rather do everything themselves. Even after retirement (退休), they take on hobbies, part-time jobs and new activities to keep their bodies working well.
Westerners respect their older people, too. Seniors usually take trains and buses for free (免费). They are given discounts (折扣) in stores and restaurants.
But western seniors don't often live with their children — they live alone. For holidays, the family usually gather at the grandparents' homes. A great smile and a warm hug for their parents are enough for children to show their respect.
