Dear Aunt Carla,
I'm having a problem with my classmate, Penny, at school. The other day I wrote an email to another classmate, Susan. In the email, I said something about Penny that perhaps wasn't very nice. However, when Susan was writing back to me, she sent it to Penny@163.com. It is Penny's email address (地址)! Now Penny is really angry with me and won't talk to me, and Susan is unhappy, too. She has said sorry to me a hundred times already. But I still feel sad, because I will never say those things to Penny's face. What should I do to get Penny to forgive me?
Mandy
Dear Mandy,
This problem is more common than you might think! Email is very useful, but also very dangerous, as you don't know where your message might end up! First of all, you should say sorry right away to Penny. Explain that it was a mistake, and that you didn't mean to hurt her feelings. It may take time for her to forgive you, but that's up to her. Then you might want to do something nice for her. Perhaps send her some flowers to show you're sorry. Also, you should remember that old saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." And good luck!
Carla

  What is volunteering?
Volunteering means spending some of your free time helping others. When you volunteer to help others, you are helping yourself. Volunteering can make you feel needed. Volunteering can also help you to learn important things about yourselves, like what kind of things you're best at.
What do volunteers think of volunteering?
"I help take care of children after school while their parents are working. As a volunteer, I don't want to get anything. Seeing the look of joy on the children's faces, I'm happy, too," said Carlos Domingo, an old woman of 62.
"I often played computer games in my free time before. But now I help old people learn how to use computers. I get such a strong feeling of satisfaction when I see them use the Internet happily," said one volunteer at the age of 14.
"Volunteering makes me look at the world differently. You see how little things can change a person's life for the better, which makes everyone a better person." Mason, who volunteers for ten years.

How to make the volunteer work meaningful?
  ◆Be well-trained.
If you can, take time to learn the job skills. You will find it's very necessary to learn the skills later. If you're good at your job, it will be much easier for you to help others and you'll have fun at the same time.
NVW (National Volunteer Week)
It started in Australia in 1974 and is held every April. It is a time to celebrate and thank volunteers for their great work. It is also a great opportunity (机会) to call up people to become volunteers by sharing volunteers' meaningful experiences.
