An Experiment Report on Growing Potato Plants
Things prepared
*A potato that has sprouts(芽)
*A flower pot with soil (泥土)
*A camera to record progress
Observation (观察)
Day1The color of the soil looks darker because I have just watered it. In the center of the pot (盐) , I can see a tiny sprout that has grown from the potato under the soil. I'll call it Buddy. Buddy is green and yellow. I wonder how fast it will grow. Day 6Without much change in the past six days, I finally see some new progress on Buddy as it has grown taller. It's exciting to see new life like this. I hope Buddy can grow faster. Day 11Buddy is getting larger! Three more new sprouts have grown around Buddy!Green leaves have grown on the new sprouts, but they have not fully grown yet. I guess I need to be a bit more patient. Day 13 Buddy continues to grow taller. The leaves on the new sprouts have grown a bit. I'm also excited to see more new sprouts that have grown from under the soil. Day 15Finally, the leaves on the other sprouts are 3 cm tall. They're so green. I hope new potatoes under the soil will soon grow.
2. Twenty years ago, I drove a taxi for a living. One night I was told to pick up a passenger at 2:30 a. m. When I arrived at the passenger's house, I walked to the door and knocked. "Just a minute," answered a weak voice. After a while, the door opened. A small woman over eighty stood before me. I took her bag to the car, and then returned to help her. She took my arm and we walked slowly towards the car. She kept thanking me for my kindness.
"It's nothing" I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way that I would want my mother to be treated." "Oh, you're such a good man," she said. She gave me an address, and then asked, "Could you drive me through the city?"
"It's not a short way," I answered quickly.
"Oh, I'm in no hurry," she said. "I'm on my way to hospice (临终安养院). I don't have any family left. The doctor says I can't live very long."
I quietly turned off the meter (计价器).
For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked, the neighborhood where she had lived, a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.
At last, she said, "I'm tired. Let's go now." Then we drove to the address she had given me.
"How much should I pay you?"
  "None," I said.
"You have to make a living."
"Oh, there are other passengers," I answered.
Almost without thinking, I gave her a hug. "You gave an old woman a little moment of joy," she said weakly but full of happiness.
3. Open your app, place your order, and wait for your food to be delivered (递送) to your home — this is how many people eat in China these days. According to the latest data (数据) from the China Internet Network Information Center, 421 million Chinese people use online food delivery services. That's nearly half of the total number of Internet users in China.
Which group of people is ordering food online the most?Unsurprisingly, it's mainly young people. A recent report that was published (公布) by the China Hospitality Association and Meituan, a food delivery service, showed that 86. 3% of the service's users are between 20 and 34 years old. These people, who are more likely to live in small families, are the main group who develop the food delivery industry.
Small families depend greatly on food delivery services. Chinese families have changed in size over the past 10 years. In 2002, only 7. 7% of Chinese families were single-person families. But it increased to 15. 6% in 2017. For small families, cooking is more time-and resource-consuming (耗时耗财), so ordering food online has become more popular.
The improvement of China's food delivery services has also attracted (吸引) more customers. According to Meituan's report, the average time (平均时间) it takes to make a food delivery dropped from 38 minutes in 2016 to 29 minutes in 2019. Many deliveries are also offering more services, such as fruit, vegetables, medicine and flowers. As its services continue to improve, it's likely that the food delivery industry will keep growing.
4. Wind power is a very clean source of energy. This is how wind power works. Wind makes windmills (风车) spin. When the windmills spin, they make electricity. Then we can use the electricity.
A lot of people think that wind power is new, but that's not true. For thousands of years, people have used wind to sail boats and move water. We still do those things today, but these days we mostly use wind power to make electricity.
Wind power is a very popular source (来源) of energy. Most people think that we should use it more and more. First of all, it's clean. Windmills don't pollute the environment at all. Second, we can use wind power forever. After all, we will always have wind. Also, wind power is cheap, and it's getting even cheaper.
A lot of people don't understand wind power very well. They believe that there are problems with wind power, but many of those problems are not real. For example, some people say that windmills are dangerous for birds. They used to be true, but it isn't true anymore. Old windmills killed birds because they spun very fast. New windmills spin slowly, and they aren't dangerous for birds.
However, there are real problems with windmills. One problem is that many people think windmills are very ugly. This is a problem for people, because windmills are often in very pretty areas. Also, if there's no wind all the time, we can't use wind power . Finally, windmills are noisy.
Wind power is becoming more and more common. Right now, more than 80 countries use wind power. About 2. 5 percent of the world's power comes from the wind. For some counties, that number is a lot higher. Wind power gives Denmark more than 25 percent of its electricity.

  (1)
Compared with others, you may feel that you are not perfect. End your comparison. No comparing, no pain.
  (2)
When perfection is your aim, mistakes mean failure. Learn to accept that mistakes are part of human beings. Remember nobody is perfect. You needn't take others' words seriously.
  (3)
Your fear of making mistakes may keep you from taking risks or trying new things. Don't worry. Find a true friend, a family member or a teacher and ask for help you need to really improve.
  (4)
Find someone who is not a perfectionist. Learn from his or her mistakes. Share your goals and achievements with him or her, no matter how small they are.
  (5)
Cut out the words like "never", "always" and "should" from your self-talk. Realizing this means you're well on your way to changing yourself better.
The more confidence you develop, the less you'll feel the need to be perfect. When you give up perfection, happiness can begin right now. And you are better really.
