We often say, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." So when you eat Western food, do as Westerners do. Here are some things that you may need to know about eating together in the West.
In some Western countries, lunch is usually eaten at about 1 pm. Dinner is served around 7 pm or even later. In Spain it is usual to have lunch at 3 pm and dinner at 10 pm!
At the start of a meal, the French say "Bon appetite", and the Italians say "Buon appetito". But there is nothing similar to say in English"Enjoy your meal"is usually only said by the person who brings the food.
During the meal, you may be served by someone who asks, "Would you like some . . ?" You can take it and say, "Thank you." If you are given something you do not like, you can just say, for example, "I'm sorry. I don't eat meat", or "I don't eat fish". No one will be cross.
It is sometimes difficult to know when the meal is over. If you are invited to dinner by western friends, you will be expected to stay and talk around the dinner table long after the last dish is served, and it is not polite if you leave as soon as you finish eating.

4. Do you think that a snowshoe hare(雪鞋兔)wears snowshoes?Do you know what snow shoes are?Maybe you live in a warm place where it doesn't snow. You would then never need to wear snowshoes.
But the lovely snowshoe hares are wearing "snowshoes". They can be found in the forests in North America. They got their name because of the large size of their back legs. The legs stop them from sinking into the snow when they jump and walk.
Snowshoe hares are not rabbits. Although hares and rabbits are in the same animal family, they are a bit different. Hares are a little larger than rabbits, and they usually have longer legs and bigger ears. Rabbits can't see and have no fur (软毛) when they are born. They are able to see and get fur when they grow a little older. Hares, however, are born to see, fully furred and ready to run.
Snowshoe hares live in places where the winter is cold. Just like leaves of trees turning colour in autumn, snowshoe hares turn from brown to white during the winter, so they can be of the same colour as the snow and keep away from danger. They turn brown again in spring. It takes about ten weeks for them to fully change colour. The only part of the fur that doesn't change colour is the very tops of the ears, which stay black.
Snowshoe hares are active at night. When the sun goes down, they come out for dinner. Grasses and berries are their favourite foods.

But that didn't stop Samantha growing into an outgoing girl. When she was out, she tried to communicate with her neighbours. But they couldn't understand her because they didn't know sign language. It made them a little disappointed.
Instead of giving up, the neighbours decided to learn sign language together. They found a sign language teacher and took classes in Lucia's living room. Lucia has lived in Newton for over 20 years. She believes in the power(影响力)of community. "Samantha is creating a reason for us to get together, " she says.
It was not easy for the neighbours to learn sign language, but they enjoyed the process(过程). Before long, they could communicate with the little girl freely. We're just so thankful that we live here and we are surrounded(被围绕) by these wonderful people, "Samantha's mother says. "I can't think of a better place for my daughter. "

Computers don't forget information they are given, but humans often do. No one remembers everything, and luckily we don’t usually have to. But everyone can improve their memory if they want to. Here are some suggestions.
★Try to use new information at once. For example, if you meet someone who says"Hi!I'm Carlos. ", don't just say"Hello!"Repeat the person's name, and say "Hello, Carlos. "
★Write out what you need to remember again and again. This will help you keep it in mind longer, especially for remembering formulas (公式)or facts.
★Always review information. If you bring what you've learned back to your mind, they become easier to remember. For example, before you go to sleep, it's a good idea to review the new things you learned that day.
★Discuss with a friend. It is always easier to remember things through discussions. You can have a discussion about what's right and what's wrong, and it will lead to the right answer.
