2. I got an invitation to take part in an education meeting at a high school. At lunchtime, I saw a young girl who looked familiar. I knew she had been a student of mine. I tried hard to recall her name, but I couldn't. It really made me sad, as I have always been able to remember former students.
Her eyes met mine and she threw her arms around me and said, "Mrs G, it's me Sarah, and I'm still writing!" All the memories soon came back to my mind. You see, Sarah wasn't a student in my classroom. Sarah's mother had left her family and her father was absent (缺席的) from her life as well. She was sent to live with foster parents (养父母). Sarah was angry, often got in trouble and was often in the principal's (校长的) office.
It was during one of those office visits that I first met her. She was writing in a notebook with a rather angry look on her face. I introduced myself to her and asked her what she was writing about. Sarah shared her story with me. Her writing spoke to me. It filled my heart and I knew it was good for her to put her thoughts on paper. Every morning at school before I started my classes, she would come into my classroom and we would work on her writing skills. "My experience years ago with Sarah taught me that teachers have a great influence upon their students, even when those students are troubled. Taking the time to talk with a child has the power to truly change that child's life. That's why I teach.

Dear Li Hua,
Several days ago you came to me for help. Don't you forget it? You said to me, "Grandpa, you are over 70, but still full of energy (1)       I am already tired of working. What should I do?"
I didn't say much then. But now I consider it (2)       a good chance to answer your questions seriously. Here is what I believe.
It's important to keep your eyes wide open. Life is full of (3)       and many are good ones. If you don't keep watching for them, you will miss a lot of excitement. Of course, you may meet with many challenges. If you do, (4)"      " them. They will make you (5)       and stronger. Don't fear (6)       mistakes. It is OK. From your mistakes, you can learn a lot.
It is also important to know what you want. Then try (7)       best to get it. Life is all about choices. Your choices today create your tomorrow. Think about your dreams, decide (8)       one to follow and keep going. In the past few years, our life has (9)       much better because of several right decisions.
More importantly, never give up. The winner is the one who goes out of his way to win. The way to (10)       is never easy, so we should go for it with hard work. Just as people always say, "How can you see a rainbow without experiencing a rainstorm?"
Do you remember what you ate for lunch? Noodles, rice, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, the list could go on. With all the different foods we eat, we may forget. But British people could tell you (1)       they've eaten for the last six years!
That's not because they have good memories. One in three Britons eat (2)       same meal for lunch every single day, according to research by Whole Foods Market. The most common lunch in Britain (3)       a sandwich, filled with either chicken or cheese. And 70 percent of people think their lunch is dull (乏味的). So why do (4)       continue to eat "dull" food? It's mainly because these sandwiches are easy (5)       prepare.
British food may be predictable, but they are still proud of their food. This is because Britain's eating habits are served by tradition.
