2.Lu Xun is one of the greatest Chinese writers of the 20th century. Besides his famous stories, he also wrote many articles about the living conditions (环境)of Chinese people.
Born in 1881 to a wealthy family, Lu Xun had a happy childhood. In 1893, however, his grandfather, a senior government official, was put into prison (监狱) for taking money. At the same time, his father became ill. From then on, his family were no longer accepted by their relatives and friends. These early experiences influenced his writing.
By the time Lu Xun arrived in Nanjing to study at university in 1899, he already believed that the old Chinese society had to change and become modern. In 1902 he went to study in Japan. There, he began writing articles for several Chinese student magazines. He showed a gift for writing and translating and even wrote several books. He returned to China in 1909.
After working for several years as a teacher in Beijing, Lu Xun again returned to writing. In 1918, he wrote his famous short story Diary of a Madman. It was the first Chinese novel published using the everyday language that people spoke, which made it a great success. This, together with his novel The True Story of Ah Q (1921), made Lu Xun a leading Chinese writer.
Although successful, Lu Xun still worried about China's future. In 1926, he moved to Shanghai and gave up writing stories in order to devote himself to what he called "pen warfare".
Since his death in 1936, Lu Xun's importance and influence have grown. Today, many of his writings are included in school textbooks and his works are read by millions of people around the world.
3.Most people follow others blindly. Some people feel it safe to follow other people. In some rare cases it might be right, but in most cases this can make a big mistake. Ninety-five percent of people never succeed because they are following the wrong group. Actually there are reasons why we shouldn't follow others blindly.
According to a study, people always follow others when they aren't sure about the direction they should take. This means a large number of people could be following others without understanding what's right and what's wrong! This attracts more people to follow them and the result is that most people move in a certain direction even if it is wrong.
A man who wants to be successful always hopes for others' guidance and he usually follows the same path of most people, but the question this man never asks himself is, "Are all of those people successful?" Of course not! If you want to follow a group, then follow a successful one. However, in real life you'll only find one successful person among hundreds of people, and that's why following others makes no sense at all.
Most people act without thinking wisely. If you always follow others because they're greater than you, then sooner or later you'll discover that you're making decisions you might regret (后悔) later.
However, should we never follow others? No. But just asking you to think wisely before you make a decision. If you find others are right, there is no problem in following them, but if you have doubts (怀疑) about the direction they're moving in, don't follow them blindly.
4.Think you're ready to keep a pet at home? Having a dog is a wonderful experience, which brings lots of fun and keeps from being loneliness. But it also needs lots of attention and responsibility (责任).
Before you decide to get a dog, you should prepare yourself and your home. Dogs, especially young ones, need more time and responsibility. While housetraining your dog, plan to take it outside every day.1.
Don't let a young dog run freely around your house, or you'll lose shoes or toys. Dogs also need to exercise twice a day. 2.       We're talking about a lot of active exercise.
A fenced (篱笆) yard with a doghouse is a good idea, especially for large and active dogs. But dogs should never be left outside alone for long periods of time. They need someone to stay with them. 3.
When you take your dog for a walk or run, always keep it on a chain and off other people. You are responsible (负责的) for accidents and bites caused by your dog. You should always pick up after your dog, no matter where it "does its business".
Respect your dog. 4.       There's truth to the saying, "Dogs are man's best friends!"
A. Housetraining can take up to six months.
B. And it will respect and protect you.
C. Make sure your dog has regular checkups.
D. They should stay inside with the family whenever possible.
E. That doesn't mean a short walk around the block.

They are anxious to know what they are eating or drinking, whether they are (3)        home or outside, or why they have come home so early or late. To be interested in these things is(4)        because they don't make any sense to us. It is none of their (5)        to know what their neighbors are doing. Such curiosity is something not only foolish but also(6)        . For most probably, it leads to a small talk which often brings shame or disrespect to others, and so (7)        their feelings.
On the other hand, there is a noble curiosity — the curiosity of wise men, who (8)        at all the great things and try to do what they (9)        to find out the answers to them. 10. There were three big fish in the lake. One of them, Demo, was wise; another one, Jimmy, was half-wise; Martin, the third one, was stupid.
One day, some fishermen came to the bank of the lake with their nets. The three fish saw them. Demo decided at once to leave, to make the long and difficult trip to the ocean. He thought, "I should make the long and difficult trip to the ocean at once, the danger will come, but the other two fish love this place so much that they call it home and will stay on. How silly they are! Their ignorance will make them lose their lives. "
Seeing the wise fish had left, Jimmy thought, "My guide has gone and now I've lost my chance to escape. " He felt sorry for it and then thought, "What can I do to save myself from these men and their nets?Perhaps I should pretend to be already dead. " So he did that. He went up and down with the water, helpless.
"Look at this! The best and biggest fish is dead. One of the men lifted him by the tail, and threw him up on the ground. He rolled over and over and moved secretly toward the water, and then, back in.
