2.  A man had a cat that climbed up a tree and then was afraid to come down. He (1)       warm milk to it, but it would not come down.
  The tree was not strong enough to climb. So the man decided to tie a rope to his (2)       and pull it until the tree bent (弯曲) down. He believed that he could then reach up and get the cat (3)      .
  While he was checking his progress, he then thought if he went just a little bit (4)      , the tree would be bent low enough for him to reach the cat. But as he moved the cat a little further forward, the rope broke.
  The tree went "boing" (弹开) and the cat was nowhere to be found.

  A few days later, he met his neighbor at a store. He happened to look into her shopping basket and was (7)       to see cat food.

The woman then told him how her little girl begged (恳求) her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days ago, the child begged again, so the woman finally (9)       her little girl, "Well, I'll let you keep a cat if it falls from the sky."
  She told the man, "I watched my child go out in the yard, and look straight into the (10)      . And a cat suddenly came flying through the air, and landed right in front of her."
3.  Long long ago, a king dressed up and went to a local village. He put a large stone in the middle of the main road and hid gold coins under the stone. Then he stayed behind a huge tree and watched.
  The first person down the street was a milkman with his car. He crashed into the stone and the milk spread all over the ground. "What fool put this stone here?" he shouted. He picked himself up and angrily went away.
  After a while, a group of women came along, each balancing a pot of water on her head. One woman tripped over (绊倒) the stone and her water pot went crashing to the ground. She picked herself up and walked away in tears. She and her friends didn't think about moving the stone out of the road.
  The king watched all day as many people complained about the stone, but he found nobody was pleased to move it. The king wanted to know, "Is there no one in this village who feels any responsibility (责任) to keep their neighbors from harm?"
  Just then, the king saw a young girl coming along. She was the daughter of a local farmer. She worked all day and was very tired. But when she saw the stone, she said to herself, "This stone is a danger to anyone who comes down the road after dark, I'll move it out of the way. "
  After a lot of effort, the girl finally succeeded in moving the stone to the side of the road. Imagine her surprise when she saw the gold coins under the stone!
  Just then, the king came out from behind the tree. "Oh, sir, " the girl said, "Is this gold yours?If not, we surely must find the owner, for he or she will certainty miss it. "
  The king said, "My dear, the gold is mine, but now the gold is yours, because you are the only person that has learned the lesson I want to teach my people. Nothing good can come to a nation whose people only complain and expect others to solve their problems. "
4.  FREE SOLO is a film, which won the Best Documentary (纪录片) of Oscar in 2019. In fact, Free Soloing is an extreme sport which is a rock climbing without a rope or any safety protection. Imagine an Olympic gold medal level athletic achievement, if you don't get that gold medal, you are going to die. This is pretty much what free soloing is like. You have to do it perfectly, without any mistakes. Quite a few climbers fell and died in the mountains during the free soloing because it's full of super great risk.
  The film shows us that a rock climber called Alex Honnold performs a free solo climbing EI Capitan. Alex was born on August 17, 1985, in America. He began to learn how to free solo at the age of 19. Later he made free soloing a big part of his life.
  EI Capitan is a 3, 200﹣foot﹣high (over 900 metres high) sheer granite (陡峭的花岗岩) in Yosemite National Park, in California. Nobody succeeded in free soloing it but Alex wanted to be the first one. He spent years getting ready for it. He says that during free soloing the big challenge is controlling his mind especially the fear of death. He also thinks that a climber has to give something 100% focus (专注) because his life depends on it, or he will lose his life.
  Finally Alex had the best day of his life. On June 3, 2017, Alex became the first and only person to free solo EI Capitan. It took him 3 hours and fifty-six minutes to stand on the top of EI Capitan.
  Alex is not only a wonderful a free solo climber but also has set up Honnold Foundation. It supports projects toward a clean, healthy, efficient and globally future.

Yuexiu Park 
 Yuexiu Park is one of the best places to enjoy kapok (木棉) flowers, the city flower of Guangzhou. Guangzhou Museum there is also open for people to visit.
Opening hours: 6 a m. ﹣ 10 p. m.
Number of visitors: No limit
Admission guide: Scan the special QR code or bring ID cards. Keep a safe distance of 1 metre while touring. 
Baiyun Mountain 
 As one of the city's most famous natural landmarks, Baiyun Mountain is also a perfect place for kapok viewing in springs Yuntai Garden and Xinghai Memorial in Baiyun Mountain scenic area have been reopened.

6.  A China Eastern Airlines plane with 132 people aboard crashed in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on 21st March, 2022. After flight (飞行) recorder of the plane was found.
  A flight recorder is an electronic recording device placed in a plane for the purpose of facilitating (使便利)the investigation of aviation (航空) accidents and incidents. Flight recorders are also known by the misnomer black box — they are, in fact, painted bright orange in color to aid in their recovery after accidents.
  A black box is an electronic device in a plane that records information about its flights. Black boxes are often used to provide evidence (证据) about accidents. They are a group of data collection devices fixed in the tail of a plane.
  The black box is the size of a shoe box. It is made up of two separate pieces of equipment (单独的设备): the flight data recorder (FDR) and the cockpit voice recorder (CVR). FDRs record things like airspeed, altitude, vertical acceleration and fuel flow and so on. CVRs track the crew's interactions with each other and air traffic control, but also background noise that can give vital clues (线索) to investigators.
  The black box can work for 30 days without any electricity. It can withstand a temperature of 1100 ℃. When this box is lost anywhere, it keeps on emitting (发射) the waves along with a beep sound for about 30 days.

7.  There are many beautiful sounds in the world. You can hear the songs of birds and the laughter of people. You can listen to cool music and news reports. (1)       They bring you a world of sounds.
