EDUCATION Wuhan Daily October 20, 2021 Spirit of hard work To stress the importance of hardworking spirit education (劳动教育) among students of different ages, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council recently released (发布) a guideline.
The guideline calls for students to respect work. Students should learn basic life skills and Photo form good working habits through such education. But this has been overlooked in recent years. Many teens do not value the importance of working hard and are uninterested in doing so. According to a study of nearly 3, 000 students that was done in March. only 22 percent of primary and middle school students help with everyday chores around the house, Mars Times reported.
Schools and families play an important role in teaching students about the value of working hard, the guideline says. Primary and middle schools should provide students with hardworking spirit classes every week. Schools can also hold activities to give students real-world work experience. For example, schools can teach children how to plant trees on Tree Planting Day. As children's first teachers, parents should also encourage children to learn how to do chores at home. Students should master one or two life skills every year. These skills can include cooking, washing their own clothes and tidying their rooms.

18. I'd never noticed her — she was not tall and just looked ordinary. And in class, she liked sitting at the back. One day, I asked her to read aloud a text. When I heard her standard American pronunciation, I looked at her with new eyes. And I remembered her name — Kelly. Later on, the National College Speech Competition would be held. One student in our school was allowed to attend. I thought it over and filled in her name.
Then Kelly practiced hard for the competition. However, I was still a little worried because she was always too quiet. Could she really do well in the competition?
On the night of the competition, I sat in the front row of the hall very early. I told her to take it easy. Her face turned red and she said nothing. It seemed that she was really nervous. I felt upset, but I just patted her on the shoulder and let her go to draw lots (抽签). As a result, she drew No. 9 while No. 8 was a boy who was very good at giving speeches.
Sure enough, No. 8 was very successful. The whole audience made a warm applause.
While they were talking about his speech with excitement, Kelly appeared on the stage. I sat there with no courage to look at her. It was her first time to go up the stage, so I couldn't be angry with her for any small mistakes. But at that moment, I found I was so afraid of her failure.
The strong spotlight and large hall made her so small that nobody seemed to notice she'd been on the stage. I felt hopeless.
But suddenly, I clearly heard a voice, a very loud voice, "Now, please focus on me."
Three times in all, louder and louder.
  The whole audience fell silent.
I could hardly believe that the loud voice came from the girl, who was usually soft-voiced and didn't catch attention at all. She gave a perfect speech.
I think I'll never forget this touching lesson that Kelly taught me — never underestimate the power of the silent people.
19. She appeared at the doorstep of my house — maybe someone had kicked her out of his house. "We're moving house." "No space for her anymore with the baby coming." People find all sorts of excuses for discarding an animal.
But she was one of the most beautiful homeless dogs I had ever seen. No way could I have sent such a gift away.
I called her Mica. Mica was so upset during those first few days. She hardly ate anything and looked blue all the time. There was nothing I could do to make her happy. I wondered what had happened to her, because I could always see the sadness and loneliness in her eyes.
At the end of the first week, she calmed down finally. She was always by my side, and she especially liked taking a walk with me. However, she just kept looking around all the way, and seemed less interested in the beautiful scenery.
One day, we were a long way from our home, then in a corner she started barking and getting very restless. Eventually, I couldn't hold her any longer and she raced off down the road towards a farmhouse in the distance as fast as she could.
By the time I reached the farm, I was very tired and angry with Mica. But then I was surprised to see her licking the four puppies softly there.
"We didn't know where she had gone." said the woman at the door, "I took her for a walk one day, soon after the puppies were born, and she just disappeared. We looked for her everywhere but failed. "
"She must have tried to come back to them, but she got lost." a boy touched Mica's hair fondly. I felt really happy for Mica, for she found her babies and loving family.
I have to admit I do miss her, but I have Nugget now, and she looks just like her mother.
