13. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing rapidly. We are living in a world that depends more and more on Al. AI is a group of technologies. It helps machines get, understand and use information to do tasks.
AI's recent developments have got a lot of social attention. Some people have welcomed AI because it makes things possible. For example, AI will have a big influence on areas like medicine and engineering. But this attention has also produced a lot of fear. Especially many workers are worrying that AI could make them lose their jobs.
According to a recent study, nearly five percent of jobs disappear because of AI. In some industries, AI has already been doing the work that people used to do, such as assembling (装配) cars, digging the coal and lifting goods. Self-driving card and trucks controlled by AI will also take away the driver's jobs in the future.
On the other hand, AI will also create many new jobs for people. More people will be needed to write programs for AI systems (系统) and they will set up and work on them too. Meanwhile, jobs that require (需要) feelings, excellent communication skills with people will not be replaced (取代) by AI. These include jobs in fields like teaching, nursing and personal training.

15. Everyone wants to find happiness. But sometimes looking for happiness can be hard. Just when you think you nearly reach it, something unexpected happens, which may puzzle you a lot. Here are some tips for you to find happiness.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. If you depend on one thing or one person to make you happy, it may be impossible. You need to enlarge (扩大) your circle of friends and activities.
Follow your heart. When we go against our own thoughts, we usually feel sad. Follow your strong feelings and let them guide you toward people and things that will improve your life. Day by day, you will be happier than before.
Organize your ideas. Many people push away happiness when they think too much. Don't keep everything in head. Try making a list of the things that seem too big to manage on your own. You may find the list isn't as long as you thought. You can do most of the things by yourself.
Look at your life as a whole. Most of the things that prevent us from feeling happy are just some little things. Remember life is always going on, and whatever the little thing is, it will end.
Remember your values. We all have a value system, a way we have decided to go through life, which makes us feel like a good person. The important thing is to remember your values when life becomes hard. Keeping our values strong will help create happiness.

16. In the past, working people in Britain only had holidays on holy (神圣的) days: Sundays, Christmas and Easter. Now most people have about four weeks holiday every year plus public holidays (also called "bank holidays").
British people usually have their holidays in summer, in July or August. Many working people take a two-week holiday during the summer. School children are on holiday from about the end of July to the start of September.
The holiday break in winter or in spring is also becoming more popular in the UK. In winter some people go skiing in Europe, and in spring, visits to capital cities such as Paris, Amsterdam or Barcelona are popular.
The most popular holiday locations for British people include Spain, France, Greece and the USA. Lots of people buy a package holiday. It includes flights (机票) and a hotel or an apartment. Cheap flights to warm places mean that many British people are able to spend two weeks a year relaxing in the sun abroad.
Flights and package holidays are much cheaper during school term time and the British government (政府) is worried that some young people are missing school to go on holiday. Parents who take their children on holiday during term time can now pay a fine of up to 100 pounds.

She and I didn't plan to become great friends. However, as time went by (流逝), we began to talk heart to heart and slowly became much             (3). I found out we had a lot in common. We both hope to go to the best senior high school. We trusted each other and tried our best             (4) our dreams come true. Our friendship grew stronger and stronger.
Now, we meet on the Internet             (5) a week. When we face difficulties, we tell each other not to give up (放弃). When festivals come, we             (6) best wishes between us. We remember the words together and share good learning ways. This long distance (距离) friendship brings             (7) much happiness. How to give the             (8) of the word "friend"? People think about it             (9). But in my eyes, true friendship doesn't mean getting together every day. It means wherever you are, you can always get the support (支持)             (10) friends.
