16.  My name is Damian Costa. I was born in a small village in Italy in 1952. I spent the first few Years of my life there before my family (1)       to Perth Australia.

Then the tortoise stretched out (伸出) its head and legs. At last, the tortoise began to crawl across the room. How excited Jack was when he saw this.
  "Son, now you see," said his father, "sometimes, you can't force someone to do things he doesn't like. But if you get him warm first, he will do what you want him to do."
18.  One day, Tom's teacher, Miss Mak, held a class meeting. "There will be a flag day next Saturday. Does anyone want to join this meaningful event (活动)?" asked Miss Mak. The man smiled and put five-dollar coin into Angela's collection bag. Then she said thanks and put a flag under his shoulder. "I did it!" said Angela happily. "It's your turn now."
  Feeling nervous. Tom began to shake. Soon, he saw a young lady walking towards him.
  The lady was smiling and holding a few coins in her hand. She asked, "Are you selling flags for Fund for the Homeless Childred?" Tom's face became red and said yes. Then the lady made the donation (捐赠) and Tom gave her a flag. "You made it!" laughed Angela.
  In the next couple of hours, Angela and Tom sold flags quickly and bravely. Al last, their collection bags were so heavy that they had to hold them with both arms. They felt very proud.
19.  Are you the only child in your family?Have you heard of "the two-child policy (政策)"? Everyone knows the one-child policy. It is a population control (控制) method in our country. Chinese government wanted to control the increasing population at that time. Many Chinese couples understood that and followed this policy or nearly 40 years.
  However, as time goes by, some problems appear in our society. At present, these problems are mainly about:
  •The number of workers changed from about 960 million in 2010 to 940 million in 2012. The number changed to 930 million in 2014 and will possibly fall by 29 million by 2020.
  •China is now getting into an aging (老龄化) society. There will be more old people in the following years. But the society will be short of doctors and nurses to take care of them.
  •The population of China will become smaller and smaller if one-child policy continues (继续). It's the main reason that leads to the two problems above.
  That's why Chinese government began the two-child policy on January 1st, 2016. It allows each family to have two children. The government hopes it can help solve those social problems gradually (逐渐地). This policy will help offer enough workers in the future. It is reported that there will be around 2. 5 million newly﹣born babies each year.
