"It'll take us half an hour to get there in the taxi, "Mr. Wilson said, "So we all have to be ready by 11 o'clock. Nobody should be late."
At 10:50, they were still all running around doing things, except Mrs. Wilson, who was sitting quietly on a chair in the garden enjoying the sun.
Her husband and children were very surprised that she was not in a hurry too. Until the taxi arrived and Mrs. Wilson said to them, "Well, I knew that this was going to happen, so before I went to bed last night, I moved all clocks and watches ahead 20 minutes. 15. What will the schoolbag be like in the future?Do you go on carrying your bag to school now?I think nobody wants one shoulder (肩膀) to be lower than the other, and paining (疼痛) too. In India most of us would look at the reduction of textbooks (教科书减少)as a way out. But in a country like America, there are always more choices (选择). A company called Go Reader has created a"schoolbag" which looks like a laptop (便携式) computer, weighing about 2. 5 kg. The"school bag has a color screen and can "hold" all the textbooks that a student may need, says a report in "The Asian Age" newspaper.
The company plans to work closely with the publishers of textbooks (教科书出版商) so that these books can be supplied (提供) on the Internet. All the students will have to do is to download (下载) their textbooks. Making notes and highlighting important parts of a lesson can be done just as students have done on their textbooks before.
16. People all over the world celebrate( 庆祝) Halloween. It falls on October 31st every year. On that night, children dress up in costumes (戏服) and go door-to-door to ask for candy. They shout, "Trick or treat! " This means "Give me a gift like sweets or a toy, or I'll play a trick on you!" It's a big part of the holiday.
But some US cities have rules about trick — or treating. They say kids above the age of 12 can't go trick-or-treating.
Some people just think it's silly( 可笑的) for older teens to go trick-or-treating. Others think that teenagers slop trick-or-treating at a certain age anyway. They go to a party with their friends instead.
I stopped trick-or-treating around my early to mid﹣teens. So I guess I would be fine with the rule. But I'm not sure if it's right to ban(禁止) older kids from trick﹣or﹣treating, especially if they have tried to put together a creative costume.
